October 2026
16 September - 19 October
Hello,
This is the first month that registration for Folklore has been open to everyone. Seeing people sign up and take an interest in what we are building has been a real joy for me and the team. Thank you for being part of this beginning.
I want these newsletters to keep you close to our work. Each month, I will share the changes we have made and explain what they give you when you use Folklore.

Public gene profiles
You can now search for a gene and explore its disease associations, constraint, expression, literature and variants in one profile.
Public gene profiles
You can now search for a gene and explore its disease associations, constraint, expression, literature and variants in one profile.
Use this when you need more context around a candidate gene. You can examine the available evidence, inspect its sources and follow links to individual variants. The profile gives you a starting point for that review.
Search genesDisease-specific context
A gene can be associated with several conditions. Each relationship can have its own inheritance pattern, mechanism and supporting evidence.
Disease-specific context
A gene can be associated with several conditions. Each relationship can have its own inheritance pattern, mechanism and supporting evidence.
Folklore now presents these contexts separately in variant details and newly generated reports. You can review the condition relevant to your case and inspect assertions from ClinGen, G2P and Orphadata. Distinct or conflicting assertions remain visible, so you can consider them in your assessment.
Open Folklore105 new screening panels
We have added 105 built-in panels across clinical areas. These include 56 panels derived from Strong or Definitive ClinGen gene-disease assertions.

You can browse the panels and inspect their gene lists before selecting them. This gives you more starting points for a screening run. You can check which genes a panel includes and decide whether it fits the scope of your review.
Open FolkloreTraceable ACMG criteria
New nuclear variant analyses now record why ACMG criteria were applied. The record includes the observations, thresholds, strengths and available sources used during classification.
Traceable ACMG criteria
New nuclear variant analyses now record why ACMG criteria were applied. The record includes the observations, thresholds, strengths and available sources used during classification.
You can inspect this information in variant cards and details when reviewing a result. The rationale is captured when classification runs. Older analyses may have no recorded rationale. Manual overrides remain separate from the original classification.
Open FolkloreMonthly and annual plans
You can choose monthly or annual billing. Both include an analysis credit allowance that renews each month.
Monthly and annual plans
You can choose monthly or annual billing. Both include an analysis credit allowance that renews each month.
If you have more cases to analyse, you can buy additional credits alongside that allowance. Purchased credits are kept separately from the included monthly credits. You can manage your subscription and invoices in Billing.
